The duty was not Amar Singh's , it was of the later generations. Bihar, and it's many princely states and small land magnets, which were and in some ways still are an integral part in reformation of the nation state, we call "India" today have been forgotten by their own people. Worse yet, while individuals may have been spared for their glorious contribution was difficult to diminish, the institution that made them, have been villanised. The politics of Bihar hates the land magnets, Zamindars and Princely states which contributed so much. They have been caricaturised as bollywood-esque villains. No mentions of schools & colleges and even police stations and hospitals they built after independence and during colonial times, which were flourishing when most of them were taken over by the state government of Bihar and destroyed. No mention of the monetary and human resource contribution by them in forming this nation. Bihar has been relegated to a caricatures and the fault lies in the fact that we relegated, the people and institutions which could have given us a sense of identity to villanised caricatures of Zamindari and what not. Every institution has fault, it's our job to remember the good and bad but create our identity based on the good. It's our fault that we erased it in name of some "social justice", people like him did their dharma. And many after him, if not this gloriously they did in silent ways.
